The TagTrac app is for licensees of the NSW Kangaroo Management Program working with the new Digital Tags.
Overview:
The Kangaroo Management Program is a NSW Government program that manages the sustainable, ethical and humane commercial harvest of kangaroos. Kangaroos can only be commercially harvested by licensed individuals and all harvested kangaroos must be tagged using identifiable Carcass Tags sold by the NSW Government.
The primary goal of the Kangaroo Management Program is conservation, with the commercial harvest of kangaroos regulated to ensure kangaroo populations remain viable and animals are treated humanely. The program promotes, monitors, and enforces compliance with the relevant legislation, codes of practice, licence conditions and policies, ensuring the industrys effective and efficient regulation and administration. This is principally achieved through an annual harvest quota that limits the number of kangaroos that can be harvested, supported by a carcass tagging system that tracks and records the number of kangaroos harvested.
TagTrac will facilitate the tracing of product, from the paddock through to processing. It will replace existing carcass tagging technology and modernise tag tracing, data capture and reporting. TagTrac will ultimately eliminate manual reporting requirements and remove duplication of effort in the current system. TagTrac will also support quality control and production efficiencies through real-time monitoring of carcass harvest, storage and transport.
